Specific nitrogenase activity expressed as acetylene reduction activity (ARA) and leghaemoglobin (Lb) content of the nodules as an estimation of nodule functionality were also measured. Regardless of the plant treatment, inoculation of plants with the otsAch mutant did not affect significantly ARA or Lb content compared to those plants inoculated with the wild-type strain (Table 2).
