Behavioral symptoms, such as hallucinations, may improve with cholinesterase inhibitor treatment, as has been reported in some AD cases treated with these agents. Contraindications to acetylcholinesterase inhibitor use include a history of bleeding gastric ulcers, since these medications will increase gastric secretions.
